Tales, Trivia-Bueno and Tidbits

Stories are pretty fun! This weekend I heard some great ones from a couple of the older members of our church. It is amazing to hear the things that have gone on in peoples lives and the way the Lord has shown His faithfulness to them. This weekend, while visiting with our deacons, I heard a story about a man's relative who tyrannized Kaskaskia, IL with two stolen canons and a stolen fort. I heard another about how he used to live behind the choir loft at our church (that's right, OUR church). I heard another about how a woman and her husband tried to challenge the racism of her small community way back in the 40's. Pretty great stuff...I can't wait until next month's youth/deacon visitation (Feb 17th).

So onto some tidbits. There are still spots left to sign up for the Deacon Trivia night. The Deacons have chosen a south-of-the-border-theme for this year so put on your thinking-sombrero and help us totally dominate the middle of the pack!

Speaking of sombreros, feel free to submit your best caption to go with the picture. Here's mine: Following high school, Stu rejects a life of studying World War II history, grows a mustache and tours the American southwest playing covers of Radiohead set to mariachi with the "Singin' Gatos".

Well, I had a relative who was a king... of a WHOLE country.

Never mind.

Singin' Gatos nada. Pienso que los hombres se llaman "Mi Cara Es Feo" y sus esposas dumped them. Ahora ellos cantan sobre éso. But the one on the far right bears a very, very slight resemblance to perhaps a twenty-fourth cousin three or four times removed of Errol Flynn. Something about the eyebrows. Tell Eva her best bet is the one on the far left. I got dibs on the middle one.

Hoho!!! Three quick snaps in a Z formation!

Anyhow, I suppose everyone else in the entire world has been watching this for several months, but for the few ostriches like me, here is one of the funniest clips I've seen in a while: http://youtube.com/watch?v=pVutSNO9k80

I think it's actually next Friday that the big night is, the 9th. There's like a varsity girls basketball game and then the best of the contestants in various activities throughout the week perform. I think it starts like at 5:30 or 6: but if you call them or check the website next week you should be able to rope in some detalles.
