Nice thoughts...

OK, so I got up this morning to do a little reading, checked the blog, a lo and behold some folks had on their grumpy-britches (or your sarcastic-pantaloons) yesterday...you know who you are :)

So I decided we needed some nice, happy thoughts. Here's what you do, take a deep breath, look at the cute puppy, think of nice things to say, exhale, then repeat (always repeat)...

See ya'all Sunday.

Word Verification

I'm happy to report that someone has finally answered the "word verification" question. JohnB left this for us to clear up the confusion:

"Word verification is so that "blog spammers" - people who attempt to have automatic messages post in the comments section of the blog. An actual person has to go in and post something and enter the letters... thus preventing a lot of worthless and meaningless posts."

I thought some of you might find that helpful although I am questioning how effective it is. I have read some of my posts.

See ya'all Sunday.

Shaun...super-genius

Some of you have likely read the post below (Refuge of Nations) and wondered if I am looking at the same calendar as the rest of the world. The answer is yes, just the wrong week. The short story is that I have been making announcements a week ahead of time. I'd like to think this is a burst of super-efficiency but I'm afraid it is a burst of super-something-else.

So....This week we DO have regular Wednesday night youth group and NEXT week we go to Refuge of Nations. I'll be calling your little telephones tomorrow to clarify things.

Refuge of Nations

Don't forget that this Wednesday (Feb. 28) we will not have regular youth group activities. Instead we will be going downtown to Refuge of Nations . This is a great opportunity to serve our brothers and sisters from around the globe. We will leave the church at 6PM and be back around 9PM. I understand that is a late night during the week, but if you are able to come I know you will be encouraged by what the Lord is doing with this ministry. The whole family is welcome to come along as well. There is room for 14 people on the Vanterra but we can caravan if more show up.

Also, don't forget to get me your deposits for summer camps by Feb. 28th!

I hope everyone enjoys their day off celebrating presidents. For the record, I was president of my class one year but I don't think a holiday is really all that necessary. I mean, it was a small school and not that much work really...

At least the potluck anyway...

So don't forget that Sunday the 18th is our Family Potluck. Bring anything you want to eat (including enough to share) and we'll eat together after the 11 o'clock service. If you have any questions about the potluck idea you can always consult this wikipedia article. You can also call me if you like.

See you in the morning!

Brrrrrrrr...

Tonight is the Blues Hockey game. Just in case you hadn't thought about it, I wanted to remind you of two things. The first is, we are LEAVING at 6. Please be there ready to go so that we can caravan to the stadium and find our seats before the first puck drops (I am still learning hockey lingo).

The second is this: since hockey is played on ice they tend to keep the building a "little chilly". Please be sure and dress appropriately. With this in mind, I have personally given up my plans to paint my belly blue and yellow.

OK, so I said two things, but in honor of hockey I should probably come back for a third (get it?). Don't forget that we are going to visit some of our shut-ins Saturday morning. Be at the church at 9 and we'll grab some breakfast on our way. You should bring some money for breakfast unless you hope to barter with chickens...I don't recommend that.

Wuv, twue wuv

So I felt like I needed to leave some kind of Valentine-themed
post. This is all I've got.

For those of you who may be questioning my choice of pics, I'd like to remind you that these two have just had a mawage so it makes perfect sense.

Anyways, come to game night. It will be fun!

Also, don't forget that if you are going to the hockey game we are LEAVING at 6 on Friday. Be there. And finally, we are visiting with the deacons this Saturday so be at the church at 9AM and we'll grab some breakfast then go see some of our home-bound saints.

See ya'all.

Love is in the air...

Valentines Day is upon us and you know what that
means?...Game Night at Covenant Youth Group (Game night is of course the universally accepted symbol of true love)!

You can join us for an evening of valentine games on the 14th from 6-8. Most of that time will be in the sub-basement but, word on the street is that a new game has been developed that involves the scooters. If it helps any, your local youth intern was not involved in the planning of the games so they should actually be fun (but seriously though, I had a good run with Oofta and Bodgeball if I may say so).

I have received word from the Valentine-game-night-triumverate
regarding the night's events and instead of re-writing them I will post them as I
received them from our resident WWII scholar:

"...there is going to be an astoundingly awesome game to played and food of some kind and be sure to bring your girl/boy-friend(s) or wife/husband, because we need plenty of both. And add this picture, not for my own amusement, but because I was commanded."

You can interpret that as best you can. The picture is added below, but I think that this is a good time for us all to say a prayer on behalf of our Robin-hood-lovin'-frappacino- guzzlin'-mac-hater...
